This is a starling. Beautiful? Yes. Pesky? Well, yes. Starlings were first introduced to North America in 1890. Oops! Bad idea. 100 were released, but only 15 pair survived. Over the next hundred years, the number of starlings increased a million times. If you see a flock of birds flying overhead, there’s a good chance you’re looking at starlings. So are they friend or foe? It depends on how you look at them.
